I was so ecstatic that Gordon Robertson, CEO of the Christian Broadcasting Network, accepted my friend request today that I couldn’t believe it was really him. So I asked him if it was really him, and he responded that it was – which only added to my joy. For those of you who know just how busy a man Gordon is, you will understand how rare and special that is. For those of you who don’t, you might think I’m really silly.
Anyways… a few seconds after that I felt the Lord put out a check-post, and I began to think, “If I’m so excited about Gordon being my friend, how much more excited ought I to be just knowing that God Himself is my friend!” I mean, isn’t that what Jesus says, “I have called you my friends.”? A lot of us love the song, “I am a friend of God”. Well, today I was caught singing, “I am a friend of Gordon” instead. 😛
I’m still happy that I am a friend of Gordon (thank you Gordon, and please don’t remove me from your friends list), but I constantly need to acknowledge and be joyful for the fact that I am a friend of God! He knows my name, He knows my every thought. He knows when I sit and when I rise… and nothing can ever happen to me without His knowledge! He is WAY beyond my comprehension. He created the entire universe and every single thing that exists. He is great and mighty, all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Lord of Hosts, the Prince of Peace, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Alpha and Omega, beginning and end… He is all of that and more… but above all, God is MY FRIEND! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Good thought Jane.
we often keep God somewhere up in high and unreachable….it’s hard for us to realize that He is so near to us… as a friend… Jesus said, if you only knew the one who is in conversation with you… if we only knew him as closely as we know a friend…
